MemorialCare Nurse Leadership Academy identifies and cultivates outstanding individuals from within the MemorialCare organization who demonstrate talent, commitment and leadership potential. Its purpose is to provide these individuals with a unique opportunity to enhance their leadership knowledge and skills through a rigorous and structured educational experience. Additionally, this experience enriches the participant’s knowledge and appreciation of the rich history of the MemorialCare Health System, and exposes them to the experiences, competencies and skills necessary to advance along leadership pathways (management, advanced clinical practice, education, informatics etc) that are critical to the future of nursing and healthcare.

Professional Advancement Program (PAP)
The Professional Advancement Program is designed to recognize the clinical excellence of RNs seeking advancement.
- Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research
- Promotes the development of leadership qualities of an individual RN
- Ensures engagement of RNs at the organizational level
- Evaluate the level of an RN’s expertise as well as areas for development
- Levels are structured incrementally to represent increasing authority, accountability, and autonomy accompanied by monetary remuneration.

Advancement Program for Professional Staff (APPIS) Program
The Advancement Program for Professional Staff (APPlS) is a program developed by nurses from both of MemorialCare’s Orange County Campuses.
This opportunity provides recognition and reward for the professional nurse who demonstrates integrity and a high level of engagement in promoting the practice and image of nursing.
There are multiple pathways available:
- Full- and Part-Time Clinical Nurses
- Clinical Supervisors/House Supervisors/Administrative House Officers
- Care Managers
Benefits include:
- Salary increases that is in addition to your annual evaluation pay increase
- Applicant may opt to level up, maintain the current level, level down, or remove themselves from the APPlS program based on their availability to the time commitment
