Position Summary
The Medical Transcriptionist II is responsible for interpreting and transcribing, with accuracy, dictation involving medical terminology in a variety of specialties by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic and invasive procedures, clinical course, diagnosis and prognosis. The Medical Transcriptionist II is also responsible for documenting patient care, facilitating delivery of healthcare services, and complying with standards of documentation mandated by State and Federal regulatory agencies, and voluntary accrediting agencies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
·Transcribes medical dictation to provide a permanent record of patient care, applying knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, English language rules and transcription guidelines and practices.
·Operates designated word processing, dictation, transcription and other office equipment to fulfill assignment requirements.
·Provides clerical support as needed and as assigned, and answers inquiries from hospital personnel, medical staff, and co-workers concerning dictation status and or transcribed reports.
·Transcribes dictation relating to medical histories, physical examinations, discharges, and other special notes involving a wide variety of medical terminology.
·Types medical reports from rough drafts, copy or tapes.
·Performs other medical related activities such as filing and other general clerical work of moderate difficulty.
·Transcribes dictation in an accurate and timely manner to ensure proper documentation on patient charts.
·Submits timecards and downtime sheets, timely and accurately.
·Performs other duties as assigned.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
3+ years of experience in typing medical reports in an acute care hospital.
Proficiency in pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
Minimum of 120 average line count at the end of each pay period consistently.
